Introducing: Kiara “Katie” Allen

Hey yall 👋🏽 my name is Kiara, but everyone calls me Katie! I’m originally from Atl, GA where I was born and raised. I was raised in a single parent household with one brother and two sisters, me being the oldest I was looked upon to hold down the house when my mom was working. I guess I had what you would call a hard knock life being pushed around the foster care system until my grandmother took on the job of raising us until we were placed back with my mother.

I’ve always been one to understand more than I should, because I was just more mature than other kids. I kept my heads in the books and decided I wanted to be better than everyone else that was around me. No one in my family had a college degree and I knew I definitely wanted one.

I was a good child, I was never in any trouble, but at the age of 14 being careless I became pregnant. This was one of the most difficult experiences ever. I went through most of my pregnancy alone, because the dad ended up getting me and another girl pregnant at the same time and had rathered been with her than me. It wasn’t so much an emotional experience, because I buried my feelings and knew at that moment nobody was gonna love and care for her as me. She became my rock and my backbone. Everything I do now is for her. She became the reason I lived. 7 years later and we’re the best of friends. She looks up to me and everything I do and is most definitely proud of her mom.

I’m 22 years young, now in college working on my first degree of becoming a medical assistant. My ultimate goal is to become a Nurse practitioner. I reside now in Nashville, TN. The Atlanta life became to much for me. I packed up all my things including my daughter and ventured off to start completely over. It was the best decision I had ever made. I just want her to know there’s nothing she can’t do. Being a strong black woman is imperative, so she has to have a good role model.

justlikeyouiaew: What is the name of your brand, business, product or blog?
Katie: The name of my blog is called “Katies’ Words Of Wisdom.”

justlikeyouiaew: What is the purpose, benefit or mission?
Katie: The purpose of my site is to give feedback on those topics most bloggers are afraid to speak on. Most of my post relate to real life issues in everyday life.

justlikeyouiaew: What inspired you to start or create your brand, business, product or blog?
Katie: I was inspired to speak my voice because I have a lot to say. I love to write, and I have hopes and dreams to tell my story through my autobiography one day. Everything I’ve been through has taught me a different lesson in life and I hope people are able to take and learn something from my stories.

justlikeyouiaew: Where are you from and where will you provide these services, resources, products or information?
Katie: I’m originally from Atlanta, but now I stay in Nashville. This is where I started my blog and will hopefully begin my book soon.

justlikeyouiaew: How will you make an impact on your community?
Katie: I hope to make an impact on my black women especially. It’s so much to learn from other black women if they were actually willing to learn. I speak to relate, so I hope coming from one black woman to another they will understand my words.

“A feminist is a person who believes in the power of women just as much as they believe in the power of anyone else. It’s equality, it’s fairness, and I think it’s a great thing to be a part of.” –Zendaya
